The regularly scheduled Zoning Board of Appeals meeting scheduled for July 16 at 6PM has been moved to July 20 at PM

Green Elk Rapids will host “A Great Water Awakening? Seizing the Moment” presented by Circle of Blue’s J. Carl Ganter.
Ganter, managing director of the international news organization Circle of Blue, and a member of the World Economic Forum Global Future Council, will share insights from the frontlines of the global water crises and trace the arc from global water challenges and policy down to the Great Lakes and what local communities can do.

Public Notice of Ordinance 2026-17, Regarding Short-Term Rental Licensing
The Village of Elk Rapids will hold a public hearing and second reading at their regular meeting Tuesday, June 2nd, 2026 at the Governmental Center, 315 Bridge St, at 6:30 p.m.
Upcoming Smoke Test July 23rd and 24th
The Village of Elk Rapids will be working with the Michigan Rural Water Association (MRWA) to perform a smoke test on the sanitary sewer system. The dates that MRWA are available are July 23rd and 24th. This test will be done to confirm where there are storm and roof drains connected to the sanitary system. We will be providing more information in the coming weeks.

Update on Mitchell Drive
Harbor Springs Excavators are scheduled to pave Mitchell Drive on Wednesday, May 13th, weather permitting. Once the asphalt has cooled, they will install gravel shoulders. Please be aware of workers and traffic. Thank you.

The Edward C. Grace Memorial Harbor Slip Reservation Dates Information
The Harbor will only accept Dockwa reservations on May 15th. We will be accepting walk in reservations on May 16th at 8am.

2026 Elk Rapids Water Safety Lessons
🌊 2026 Elk Rapids Water Safety Lessons Registration
We’re excited to announce that registration for this year’s Water Safety Lessons is just around the corner!
🗓️ Registration opens Monday, May 4, 2026, at 9:00 a.m.
🛑 Registration closes Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. — or until spots are full.
After May 4, you may register via this Water Safety Lessons Registration form, or stop by the Elk Rapids Government Center, 315 Bridge Street, Elk Rapids, to complete a paper form.
There is a $75 per student, per session, fee payable to “The Village of Elk Rapids” PRIOR to the first class.
Space is limited and priority will be given to Village Residents, so don’t wait!
You may only sign up for ONE session per summer, unless space becomes available.
Lessons take place at the River and are held rain or shine, unless there is thunder or lightning.

Session 1: June 30 & July 1, 2, 7, 8, 9
Session 2: July 14, 15, 16, 21, 22, 23
Session 3: July 28, 29, 30 & August 5, 6, 7
