Recycling Center
The Village compactor, recycling, and yard waste drop-off services have combined into ONE SITE at 8228 Herrman Rd, Elk Rapids, MI 49629. The site is open for recycling 24/7, and recycling is available to all Antrim County residents.
You can do your part to recycle more and keep the community free of litter
The trash compactor is available for all residents with a Village permit sticker or for those who purchase blue plastic bags at Village Market (Elk Rapids location). The compactor operates two days a week: Wednesday from 11AM – 7PM and Saturday from 9:30AM – 5PM. Do not leave trash outside the compactor if it is not open. The site is monitored by security cameras, and illegal dumping can lead to consequences.
Single stream recycling at the site includes steel and aluminum cans, corrugated cardboard, boxboard, mixed paper (newspaper, magazines, catalogs, junk mail, & office paper), plastic bottles and containers (#1 PET, #2 HDPE, & #5 PP only), and all glass food containers. Keep your recyclables LOOSE when emptying them into the bins and make sure all your materials are placed properly inside the bins. Do not bag your recycling, and keep plastic bags out of the recycling bins!
