Village of Elk Rapids now seeking applicants for DPW Superintendent position

The Village of Elk Rapids is seeking qualified and energetic applicants to fill the position of Department of Public Works Superintendent. The DPW Superintendent serves as the head of the Department of Public Works. General responsibilities for the position include:

  • Ensure the proper maintenance of public accesses, parks and other public lands and facilities within the Village.
  • Manage all major and local street construction and maintenance projects.
  • Manage all aspects of the water treatment and distribution system.
  • Manage all aspects of the sanitary sewer collection system.
  • Ensure the proper operation of the motor vehicle pool and maintenance garage.
  • Manage all aspects of the Village solid waste collection and compactor facility.
  • Serve as Street Administrator according to Act 51, as amended.
  • Supervise all full-time and part-time employees of the Department of Public Works.

A demonstrated track record and appreciation for high quality customer service is critically important in the performance of this position. The ideal candidate will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as the ability to work effectively with individuals and organizations throughout the community.

Compensation is $50,000-$60,000 (DOQ) plus full benefit package including health, vision, dental, AD&D, MERS Defined Benefit and 457 Supplemental Retirement (Deferred Compensation) plans.
